Swim Wales were deeply saddened by the news of Bronwen Poole’s recent passing.

Bronwen passed away last month following a lifetime of service to her beloved Welshpool Sharks. Bronwen, who passed away peacefully aged 76, was a founding member of the club over 40 years ago and went on to dedicate her time and efforts to running the club in many roles, in particular the one of Treasurer.

Bronwen was known by many of us as an official too, she commenced her role as an official initially at club level, then progressed to national events. As an official, she travelled to many national events where she displayed a wealth of knowledge and a poolside manner that warmed many of our hearts.

Bronwen helped many of the young officials as they started their journey, she always had time for the young officials and loved to hear and learn from them about the new techniques they discussed.

Zita Cameron (Swim Wales) spoke to Grace, Bronwen’s daughter who spoke so fondly about her Mum, Bronwen not only considered Swim Wales staff her extended family but everyone in swimming across Wales from young people just starting their journey in Aquatics  to every volunteer who touched her life as she volunteered in her chosen sport.

Many of us will always remember Bronwen as one of the kindest persons we have had the pleasure of knowing, always smiling and always ready to help anyone who needed it, thank you for your valued contribution Bronwen  – RIP. Our condolences to your family.
