Swim Wales has launched its new Swim Wales Learn to Swim Accreditations across the country.

Swim Wales Learn to Swim Accreditations are the new quality mark for swim schools and operators delivering Learn to Swim Programmes in Wales.

Learn to Swim providers in Wales are invited to become an Accredited Provider with Swim Wales, the National Governing Body for Aquatics in Wales, in association with Swimsure.

Available to all providers across the nation, the two-tiered accreditation has been launched to ensure the best quality learn to swim programmes are operating across Wales.

The standard accreditation will enable providers to demonstrate compliance to industry standards and safeguarding guidelines in relation to learn to swim provision.

A Swim Wales Gold Accredited Provider will be recognised for excellence in governance, sustainability and effectiveness – the award demonstrates the provider is delivering the best possible Learn to Swim experience for all.

Swim Wales Learn to Swim Manager Hanna Guise said: “Swim Wales are proud to launch our new Learn to Swim Accreditations. The two-tiered accreditation gives providers the opportunity to align themselves with the industry standards, or showcase how they are going the extra mile to earn our Gold Accredited Provider standard.

“Accredited Provider status gives swim schools and operators the recognition their learn to swim programme aligns to industry minimum practice guidelines, while a Gold Accredited Provider will demonstrate an enhanced programme, offering customers assurance that they meet or exceed best practice guidelines.

“Ensuring that the best quality learn to swim opportunities are operating across Wales is integral to achieving our vision of ‘aquatics for everyone for life’. These accreditations are a key part of our work with providers to ensure the best possible introduction to the aquatic environment for learners throughout Wales.”

Learn to Swim providers across Wales have welcomed the rollout of the new Swim Wales Learn to Swim Accreditations.

Dyfed Davies, Byw’n Iach Aquatic Development Officer, said: “I feel that the Swim Wales accreditation is much needed in Wales to ensure that all swimming lesson providers offer the best standards and competency, so that the learn to swim pareticipants of Wales have the best opportunities to enjoy, develop and improve in their swimming lessons.”

Richard Dale, Newport Live Head of Business Development, said: “The Learn to Swim Accreditations enable operators to quality assure their delivery against the industry requirement. This not only ensures that lessons are of high quality but also fun and relevant to each element of the framework. Having an opportunity to work with Swim Wales to receive critical and honest feedback, whereby ensuring we create the best possible environment for swimmers, is invaluable. This process and kite mark will ultimately increase confidence in the provision across Wales.”

Sharron Fisher, Little Fishers Swim School Director, said: “We think the accreditations will be hugely beneficial to us as a swim school to help us to ensure we are providing the best service we can to our customers. It will help to ensure our legal documentation is up to date and reassure our customers that this is the case. This is the way forward to safeguard Learn to Swim providers and their customers in the future.”

Mark Wedgbury, Swimsure Managing Director, said: “The Swimsure Team are proud of our association with the Swim Wales Accreditation Scheme and look forward to working together in the coming months and providing a quality insurance product coupled with excellent customer service levels for the Swim Schools of Wales”

The Swim Wales Accredited Provider status is available to all organisations in Wales delivering a recognised Learn to Swim Programme.

The Swim Wales Gold Accredited Provider status is available to organisations in Wales delivering at least one element of the Learn to Swim Wales framework.

This includes swim schools, local authority operators, leisure trusts, private leisure providers and multi-site organisations.

For more information and to apply to become a Swim Wales Accredited Provider, operators and swim schools are asked to email swimwales-accreditation@swimming.org.
