Accredited Provider

Being a Swim Wales Accredited Provider demonstrates compliance to industry standards and safeguarding guidelines in relation to learn to swim provision.

Gold Accredited Provider

The Learn to Swim Gold Accreditation has been developed by Swim Wales as a recognition mark for an organisation delivering best practice within their learn to swim programme. 

This programme is designed for any organisation delivering Learn to Swim Wales and has been written in consultation with a number of learn to swim providers. It is a blue print of good practice standards for any learn to swim operator and should be used to help you plan for the future and develop your swim school. 

Who can apply to be an Accredited Provider?

The Swim Wales Accredited Provider status is available to all organisations in Wales delivering a recognised Learn to Swim Programme.

The Swim Wales Gold Accredited Provider status is available to organisations in Wales delivering at least one element of the Learn to Swim Wales framework.

This includes swim schools, local authority operators, leisure trusts, private leisure providers and multi-site organisations.

Accreditation criteria:

To become a Gold Accredited provider, you will be assessed on the following key business areas:

Your business development processes.

Operating standards.

Swimmer pathways.

Class structures and programmes.

Quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

Apply for Gold Accreditation

Assess whether your provision reaches the required standard.

If not (yet), create and apply an action plan to ensure you can achieve the Accreditation.

Once you have reached the minimum criteria, you can apply for a site assessment visit.

Choosing your assessment route

Providers can choose to be assessed in one of two ways:

  • Single Site Assessment (suitable for swim schools, independent operators)
  • Multi-Site Assessment (suitable for Local Authorities / Leisure Trusts)

Assessment involves a one day site visit by an assessor experienced in running Learn to Swim Programmes and assessing industry standards. For multi-site assessments a percentage of sites will receive a site visit and the remaining will receive a random visit for accreditation to be awarded.

Once Accreditation is awarded there will be one random visit completed within the next 12 months.
