Course Information
This course has been designed for those coaches who already hold the Swim England Assistant Swim Coach Certificate.
The course will build on your existing knowledge and skill set, enhancing practical skills and confidence to design and deliver high-quality swimming sessions, whether you’re guiding a team at club level or preparing athletes for competition.
Training is delivered in a hybrid format:
- Brightspace e-learning for self-directed study
- Educator-led online sessions for deeper exploration and discussion
- On-pool practical’s and in-club assessments to apply what you have learnt
Pre-Requisites
- Hold a valid Swim Wales, recognised safeguarding certificate – For further information on forthcoming safeguarding courses, please click here or alternatively visit UK Coaching
- Hold a valid Swim Wales DBS and Swim Wales Coach Membership.
- Hold a Swim England Swimming Assistant Coach Certificate or equivalent and be coaching a minimum of 5 hours per month
Course Units
The qualification is built around four key units:
- Being a Swimming Club Coach – The Person (self-directed online)
- The Coach and Technical Requirements (educator-led)
- The Coach in Action – Training and Competition (at your home club and a Swim Wales-licensed competition
- Practical Assessment (at a designated Swim Wales member club)
