Course content

With our course programme you will have the opportunity to work with our qualified tutor who will support you through observing & assisting swim lessons as a progressive and developmental programme.

All courses will start online, exploring the theoretical elements through a series of virtual classrooms using both Zoom and Google Classroom. You will then complete the practical elements of your courses at designated Swim Wales practical venue.

The course is delivered through a mixture of online activities and practical poolside learning. You will participate in at least six training sessions, coaching swimmers at county/regional standard and above, to gain hands-on practical experience.

Please note that there will be additional course work, outside of the core classroom hours including session planning, answering assessment outcomes and additional work that the tutor may feel is required. This additional course work is required so that learners can complete all outcomes that are required to complete the relevant qualification.

  1. Roles and responsibilities of a Swimming Coach
  2. Understand the legal requirements of coaching swimming
  3. Impact of the Athlete Development Support Pathway in competitive swimming
