Description

Prerequisites: Learners must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the course and have experience of open water swimming

And must hold one of the following: 

  • SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming (or ASA equivalent) 
  • STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming
  • Swim England Assistant Swimming Coach 
  • Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate 
  • ASA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming 
  • 1st 4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Triathlon 
  • RLSS Pool to Pond award 

COURSE DELIVERY FORMAT

This course allows you to make the most of learning online and will cover the course theory through interactive e-learning and live zoom webinars. E-learning allows you to work through the content at your own pace while the zoom webinars will be with the rest of your course cohort and from the comfort of your own home. Once you get to the venue, you’ll have practical work, session delivery and assessment to complete. 

E Learning - you will be given access to this on the start date listed below. This will be completed through out the course and deadlines will be set by your course tutor.

COURSE CONTENT

The course is delivered through a mixture of online learning, zoom classroom activities, and practical learning, in an open water environment.

You will learn about:

  • The roles and responsibilities of coaching open water swimming
  • The advantages and disadvantages of different types of equipment
  • The different opportunities available to open water swimmers
  • How to plan for open water coaching sessions
  • How to develop session management skills

Theory Sessions delivered via Zoom

  • Saturday 10th June 2023 - 9.00am -10.00am (Induction Session)
  • Friday 23rd June 2023 - 6.00pm - 9.00pm
  • Thursday 20th July 2023 - 6.00pm - 9.00pm
  • Friday 8th September 2023 -11.00am - 2.00pm (1-2-1 sign-off/support)

Practical Session
