What are Poolside Accreditations?
As part of Swim Wales’ commitment to improving event experiences, we are introducing a new Poolside accreditations approach.
Poolside Accreditations are a printed pass for Athletes, Coaches, and Team Managers. It ensures that everyone accessing the poolside is authorised, compliant, and easily identifiable.
Why We’re Making This Change
We’ve listened to your feedback, and many of you told us:
- You wanted a more efficient process for event access.
- Athletes were keen to have a keepsake from each event.
Purchasing
Poolside Accreditations must be purchased and printed before arrival. Each athlete, Coach, and Team Manager will receive a lanyard and wallet.
If accreditation is forgotten:
- Swim Wales will print and issue a replacement on the day.
- Delays may occur, and you will not be granted poolside access until accreditation is received.
- From National Championships 2026, a £5 fee will apply for on the day prints.
Timeline
- Winter Championships 2025:
- Mandatory for all Coaches and Team Managers.
- Optional for Athletes.
- National Championships 2026 onwards:
- Mandatory for all Athletes, Coaches, and Team Managers.
Coaches and Team Managers Requirements
To obtain accreditation, a Coach or Team Manager must meet the criteria below:
- DBS: a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Safeguarding Credential: a Swim Wales approved Safeguarding credential.
- Role-Specific Qualifications: A coach must hold a coaching qualification, and a Team Manager must have completed at least a Level 1 Team Manager qualification.
