With just over one month to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the full complement of swimmers set to represent Team Wales has been announced.
A total of 21 athletes have been selected across swimming and para swimming, underlining the strength and depth of Welsh aquatics ahead of the Games.
The competition will take place at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, with swimming and para swimming events running from the 24th to 29th July.
Swim Wales Performance Director Ross Nicholas believes the squad has earned its place on one of the biggest stages in international sport.
Ross Nicholas said: “This selection represents the culmination of years of hard work and commitment from the athletes, coaches and support staff across the Welsh performance pathway. We are excited by the quality within this squad and are looking forward to watching their performances at Tollcross.
“Representing Wales at a Commonwealth Games is a special achievement and we know the athletes will wear the red dragon with pride.”
Swim Wales Chief Executive Fergus Feeney said the announcement reflected the continued growth and success of the sport in Wales.
Fergus Feeney shared: “To see this talented group of athletes come together is testament to the strength of our clubs, coaches, support staff and our national programme overall.
It reflects the ongoing investment into our national programme from a multitude of key partners including but not limited to Welsh Government, Sport Wales, Aquatics GB and The National Lottery.
“We look forward to seeing the team compete against some of the best swimmers in the world right now, and to make Wales proud with every stroke.”

The Swimmers and Para Swimmers will be supported in Glasgow by a group of highly experienced and skilled management, coaching and support staff. This group, which includes both accredited and non-accredited staff, will work as an integrated team alongside the Team Wales HQ and Operational Staff to create the very best environment for the athletes to prepare and perform at their best in Glasgow.

The journey to the Commonwealth Games has been supported by National Lottery funding. For swimming in Wales specifically, National Lottery investment has supported the sport at every level – including around £9.5 million into Swim Wales since 1996, alongside key facilities like the Wales National Pool in Swansea, which has benefited from around £8.5 million of funding and supports the training of some of Wales’s and the UK’s leading swim and para-swimming athletes.
