National & Regional Events Cancellation Notice

Swimming, Diving, Artistic Swimming , Water Polo, Education

To: Swim Wales Affiliated Clubs and Their Members, Volunteers, Participants, Customers and Partners.

The safety and the well-being of our people is always priority, and we have been following all Welsh Government, UK Government, WHO and FINA guidelines to minimise any health risks. The UK Government’s action plan published last week did raise the possibility of reducing the number of large-scale gatherings. Swim Wales has taken the decision to cancel all National and Regional Events until further notice starting with the Swim Wales Long Course Championships 2020 in mid-April at the Wales National Pool Swansea, the Regional Junior Development Meets, No Time Galas, the Age Group Regional Open Water Championships and the Open Water Series.

All customers who were due to attend one of our cancelled events will receive an email advising them of their rights, and how to get a refund or deferred entry for a rescheduled event. Over the coming weeks we expect that Governments may impose further changes and any affected customers will be notified by email. We will continue to comply with all Welsh Government, UK Government, WHO and FINA guidelines and we will follow any other restrictions that are imposed. If you are working with Swim Wales across education, sales or development plans we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to minimise risk. We have reviewed and implemented many of our procedures, beyond the protocols required by the authorities:

  • Our staff have been fully briefed on best practice health and hygiene
  • Our staff have been issued with the tools necessary to work from home and continue to support our affiliated clubs and their members, volunteers, participants, customers and partners.

Swim Wales is working closely with British Swimming and the other Home Nations to continually review the respective Government advice to ensure appropriate and safe practice.

We hope these actions will reinforce your confidence that Swim Wales is taking the Covid-19 crisis seriously, and we apologise for having to cancel the events. We look forward to ‘aquatic activities’ across Wales returning to normal in the near future.

On behalf of all of us at Swim Wales, we thank you for your patience and co-operation during this time.
