These qualifications are suitable for those wishing to coach within a competitive club environment.
The ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Coaching) qualification is a practical qualification, which develops the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be a Swimming Assistant (Coaching Swimming). All learners are required to be a minimum aged of 16 years.
The ASA Level 2 Coach (Swimming) qualification is a practical qualification, which develops the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be a Swimming Coach. This qualification builds on the knowledge, skills and abilities developed in the ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Coaching Swimming) qualification. When achieved it ensures swimming coaches can effectively and independently plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate a series of swimming coaching sessions. Must hold ASA Level 1Swimming Assistant (Coaching). All learners are required to be a minimum age of 16 years.
The ASA Level 3 Coaching Swimming will enable coaches to plan, deliver and evaluate a macro cycle of work. The coach will be able to manage and lead appropriate resources (physical and human) to support all areas of a swimming club programme.
Learners must be holders of the ASA Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Swimming or hold one of the following: Level 2 Certificate for Teaching (Units 1 - 4) plus CV + coaching experience + references and/ or ASA Club Coach Certificate or equivalent and have experience of coaching in aquatic environment. All learners are required to be at least 18 years of age or over to register for this qualification.
