The Swim Wales Para Swimming Programme aims to identify, develop and support talented athletes in their pursuit of success at Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Paralympic Games.

Swim Wales National Para Performance Centre

This section of the pathway offers high quality monthly training for the selected para swimmers and is also the entrance point to the pathway where new swimmers can be assessed and potentially selected at any point during the season. Swimmers are assessed through a Talent ID application (Link to Talent ID page) which involves submitting a video and an application form to the swimwales-para@swimming.org

National Squads

The Swim Wales National Squad Programme (link https://www.swimwales.org/national-squad-programme/) is inclusive of disabled and non-disabled swimmers who meet the required performance standards.

Para Swimmers must achieve or better the British Para Swimming points totals published in the table below in a Paralympic event for their classification to be considered for selection to the National Squad Programme. These points totals align to British Para Swimming standards and are equivalent to the published consideration times for non-disabled swimmers on the programme. Selection for these squads are done on an annual basis at the start of the season.

The National Squad programme is fully aligned to the British Para Swimming and offers development opportunities to swimmers capable of progressing towards winning medals at Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Paralympic Games.
