Great Britain honour for Welsh WaterPolo star

WaterPolo in Carmarthenshire has something else to shout about today.

Carl Wyatt of Carmarthen and Wales has made the Great Britain (GB) men's team after competing for Wales since 2005. Carl underwent further training as part of the commonwealth program and was reccomended to go down for GB trials. After a succesful trial Carl was placed in the men's squad and started training for a couple of months.

Further success came the Carmarthen stars way when he was picked for a pre tournament in Malta ahead of the european qualifiers in Sunderland.

Sunderland hosted the qualifiers from 7th to the 10th of Novemrber and Carl did himself proud. The GB team started with a strong win against Israel before going on to beat the Netherlands with a score of 10 - 6. The team were on a roll and eventually made it to the final where they beat Malta in a pulsating match.

Carl now goes onto the European Championships where he will be tested against the best around.

The man himself stressed how much the training program in Wales has supported his growth. Rohan Monico (Water Polo representative in Wales) said '' I honestly feel that the standard of the program in Wales is making a difference for both men and women and Carl is the front runner of a group of players raising standards of the sport in Wales''.

On behalf of everyone at Swim Wales we wish him all the best!
