Swim Wales would like to extend their congratulations to Welsh
disability swimmer Ffion Butler, who won the Disability Sports
Personality of the Year category at the recent Montgomeryshire and
District Sports Awards.
The ceremony took place at a packed Hafren Entertainment Venue,
Newtown on the 25th January, and was organised by Powys
County Council's Sports Development department. Ffion has won
this award before, however the category was particularly well
contested this year with many other local sporting stars achieving
high levels of success in their respective disciplines.
Newtown and District Swimming Club were represented in many of
the categories and the entire coaching team were recognised for the
Coach of the Year award, as was Pete Swanton, head coach with
Welshpool Sharks. Mali Jones, a member of Aberystwyth and District
Swimming Club came runner up in the Junior Sports Personality of
the year award for her achievements in Triathlon.
Well done to all those represented!
