WALES East have been promoted back
into the top flight of the British Gas ASA National County Team
Championships thanks to Swim Flintshire athletes.
At last year's event, both Wales West and Wales East were
demoted to Division Two in an event which sees two Welsh teams,
three Scottish teams and 34 English county teams go head to
head.
Five athletes
from the Swim Flintshire elite programme - CalumHughes, Lewis
Roberts, Eliza Nash, Isobel Wild and Dan Hussey, plus Buckley
Swimming Club's Elliott Jones, were all part of the Wales East
team. They were charged by director of swimming for Wales Martin
Woodruff with gaining promotion back to Division One in the
competition, held at Sheffield's Ponds Forge, which was split into
two 25 metre pools for Division One and Division Two.
And they did it, finishing fourth overall as Wales West won the
division, meaning both sides return to Division One next time.
