The Swim Wales & University Performance
Programme has been operating for just four years but has
already seen a number of its swimmers achieve success at national
and international level. The squad has seen a number of its
swimmers achieve medals, semi finals and finals at:
- Commonwealth Youth Games Puna, India 2008
- Commonwealth Youth Games Douglas, Isle of Mann 2011
- Commonwealth Games Delhi, India 2010
- Asian Games, Seoul, Korea 2011
Based at the Wales National Pool Swansea, the programme provides
fully integrated training allowing students to excel both in the
pool and in the lecture hall. Enhanced by strong links with Swim
Wales, British Swimming and Swim Swansea, it offers students the
opportunity to access world-class facilities, coaches, sports and
exercise scientists, physiotherapy, and strength and conditioning -
all under one roof.
The dedicated first year accommodation, within walking distance
of the pool, is deemed a 'quiet zone', allowing swimmers the sleep
they need before the next morning workout. Athletes are expected to
swim a minimum of nine sessions per week with additional gym based
work.
Swimmers with automatic times will be guaranteed a place in the
performance squads. If you'd like to be considered, please contact
