Apply for classification
In order to be eligible to compete, a swimmer with a physical,
visual, learning or hearing impairment must first be assessed to
determine the degree of impairment. Complete application form to be
placed onto waiting list for assessment.
Swimmers are classified into groups which will enable fair
competition between swimmers with similar levels of dis/ability.
There are two types of classification:
- National (British Swimming) allows swimmers to compete at
events in the UK only
- International (International Paralympic Committee (IPC)) allows
swimmers to compete in events around the world
