Head Coach Profile
Pembrokeshire County Swimming is headed up by a highly-qualified
coach, Paul Dowey, who specialises in a scientific approach to
coaching. At the inception of the performance club, Paul was the
youngest full-time performance coach in Wales and the first in
Pembrokeshire. His eleven years of experience in Learn to Swim and
coaching provides a secure foundation for his development of the
elite pathway. Paul has coached swimmers to national finals
and British trials, Paul is a member of the Swim Wales Technical
Panel and is keen to recognise the hard work of the whole pathway,
including club volunteers, in generating his team's results.
Club Profile
With over 3,500 children involved in the aquatics programme and
a professional coach, rural Pembrokeshire is well placed to produce
quality swimmers. Pembrokeshire County Swimming has enjoyed good
success in developing its swimmers over the last few years,
achieving 13 individual medallists and 4 relay medallists in the
Summer Nationals 2011. Pembrokeshire County Swimming develops
swimmers through its Skills, Potential, North & South and
Performance Squads. All squads are based on Long Term
Athlete Development principles, and train at Haverfordwest leisure
centre
